Home Deco Sourcing Service

Our home decoration sourcing covers seasonal decor, storage and organization, artificial plants, photo frames, candles and lifestyle gift items for retail chains, promotional distributors and private label brands.

Working together with our KJADE Home product team, we develop decoration programs that match European and American seasonal trends, coordinate material development and samples, and follow production through to inspection and shipment. Seasonal Decor Programmes

Seasonal decor is a calendar product, and the calendar runs backwards from the retail set date rather than forward from the order date. Christmas programmes are developed in the first half of the year, harvest and autumn ranges before that, and spring ranges during the previous autumn. Working backwards from the set date, the container departure date and the production window fall out of the plan rather than being discovered late.

Because the selling window is short, the risk in this category is not unit cost but timing. A shipment that arrives two weeks late can miss a season entirely, so development milestones are tracked against the retail calendar and a contingency plan is agreed for anything with a new mould or a new print. Working with the KJADE Home product team, ranges are aligned to European and American retail timing rather than to Chinese production convenience.

Storage and Organisation

Storage items are bought on two criteria: whether they look good on a shelf and whether they survive being filled. Baskets, boxes, trays and organisers are quoted by material and by structure, and the structure decides the load rating. A fabric basket that sags under a full load is a return; a folded felt or non-woven option is cheap to ship but must be specified with the right stiffener to hold shape.

Flat-packed and collapsible constructions are used where freight is the dominant cost, with assembly designed to be tool-free. Where a product will be assembled by the consumer, the instruction sheet, hardware bag and drilling alignment are all treated as part of the specification rather than as afterthoughts.

Lifestyle Gifts, Frames and Artificial Plants

Gift-driven decoration lives or dies on presentation. Photo frames, candle holders, decorative trays and small ornaments are quoted by material and finish, and the retail box is frequently part of the product rather than packaging. Gift packaging, ribbon and insert cards are specified at development stage so the item arrives shelf-ready.

Artificial plants and floral items are quoted by material mix and by the number of stems or branches, with the pot, moss and any weighted base quoted separately. Realism comes from leaf texture and colour variation, so a sample is judged in daylight rather than against a specification sheet.

Finishes, Coatings and Material Compliance

Home decoration spans ceramics, glass, MDF, metal, resin and textiles, and each brings its own compliance questions. Surface coatings are screened for restricted substances, food-contact items such as mugs and bowls require suitable materials and, where applicable, migration testing, and any ceramic intended for food use is assessed for lead and cadmium release.

Finishing decides perceived quality: glaze consistency on ceramics, plating and powder coating on metal, edge sealing and lamination on MDF, and fabric backing on textile items. Finish defects are the most common reason a decoration programme is rejected at inspection, so finish standards are photographed and agreed on the approved sample.

Development with KJADE Home

Decoration sourcing runs through two teams. MASA Development International handles supplier identification, factory verification, sampling coordination, pricing and production follow-up. KJADE Home holds the ready-to-order home decoration collections and the design language behind them, and works with the buyer on trend direction, colour and range planning.

In practice this means a buyer can either develop a private label decoration programme from a brief, or start from an existing collection and adapt colours and packaging. Both routes use the same supplier network and the same inspection standard, so the choice is about speed rather than about capability.

Testing, Packing and Container Load

Decoration is fragile or bulky, often both, so packing is a design decision. Ceramic and glass items use moulded pulp, foam or divided cartons, and packed units are drop-tested to the standard the buyer's channel requires, whether that is retail distribution or parcel delivery. Breakage rate at destination is the measure that matters, not the cost of the packaging.

For light and bulky items such as artificial plants and storage baskets, carton fill rate is the main freight lever, and nesting or knock-down constructions are used to raise it. Carton dimensions, gross weight, units per carton and any pallet configuration are confirmed before production, and shipping marks and barcode placement are checked at inspection.

Home Deco Sourcing Questions

How early should a seasonal decoration programme start?

The plan runs backwards from the retail set date. Christmas ranges are typically developed in the first half of the year, with container departure dates set so the goods are on shelf well before the selling window opens. Milestones are tracked against the calendar.

Do you work with buyers who have no design brief?

Yes. A buyer can start from an existing KJADE Home collection and adapt colours, materials and packaging, or develop a private label range from a brief. Both routes use the same supplier network and inspection standard.

How is breakage controlled on ceramic and glass decoration?

Packing is treated as part of the product. Moulded pulp, foam inserts and divided cartons are used as appropriate, and packed units are drop-tested to the destination channel standard. Breakage rate at delivery is the measure used to approve the packing.

Are food-contact decoration items tested?

Yes. Mugs, bowls and similar items are assessed for lead and cadmium release where applicable and require materials and, in some markets, migration testing suitable for food contact. This is confirmed at specification stage.
